Much like bakers who can accurately measure out a pound of flour using the heft as a guide instead of a scale, I can usually tell if Mr. N has lost or gained weight by picking him up. He seemed a little heavier than normal and so said the scale. I consulted with the vet who concurred and said she wanted him back at his pre-winter weight. So he went on a diet which he did not approve of.
Because of his dental last year (and growing out shaved legs), he was probably the fluffiest hair-wise he has been for a long while. Well he got groomed and lost almost a half-pound of hair. Who would have thought the extra hair would weigh so much? He is back to his normal weight. And demands restitution.
If only all our diets were that simple.

If only I could lose weight after a haircut …
Ruby is the same way. She looks and feels heavier when she needs grooming.

I know right? Well I figured some of it was hair weight… I just didn't expect ALL of it to be!

That little face just says it all!
April 29, 2016 9:39 pm
He does look a little disgruntled.

I hope my husband doesn't see this post. Because he'll claim Honey just needs a haircut instead of him stopping feeding her under the table.
And yep, I feel Honey's weight gain when I'm lifting her in and out of the boat.

Lol! It's definitely a quick solution compared to other things for sure.

So you are saying that if we shave our heads, we can loose weight too? lol That winter weight can be stubborn. Good job Mr. N!

If only it was that easy…

Mom got a haircut and she still weighs the same. She wants a refund.
Love and licks,

Haha she should get one!

That hair can really weigh a dog down!

Barely's been on a post-hibernation diet, too. She also hates it and is even more determined than ever to supplement her meals with a little cat food here and there. Mr. N looks very handsome in that picture!

He has no cat food he can steal sadly… thanks!
April 30, 2016 2:33 am
If only… I'd shave my whole body to loose a few pounds LOL
April 30, 2016 2:48 am
I'll blame all my extra weight on my hair too, BOL!
May 1, 2016 3:36 pm
Oh Mr. N, I feel your pain! I too am trying to get back to my pre Winter weight – and I live in Phoenix, LOL!! You always look awesome to me.

Lol! You guys don't even have horrid weather!
May 2, 2016 12:02 am
That's a lot of hair on a little guy! Lilo wants to know if this trick will work for her, too; I'm thinking not.
May 5, 2016 9:29 pm
It works a LOT better on long-haired dogs but I suppose it's worth a try?
May 4, 2016 10:18 pm
Ha! I do wish I could get my hair cut and drop some weight! I never would have expected that, and I bet Mr. N is going to hold that one over your head for a while. 🙂

Mr. N does hold grudges. One time he was wrestling with Sage on the couch and I think he accidentally stepped on her face or something and she snapped at him. She was immediately very apologetic but Mr. N refused to acknowledge her and ignored her for about ten minutes while sitting on Ann's lap.
