Mr. N is not normally into tug but he loves stealing Sage’s sticks. He runs away with them and then Sage’s human has to go get them back because Sage won’t.
He is very fierce about maintaining his grip on the stick. On occasion, Ann will pick up the stick with Mr. N still clinging to it, four paws off the ground. She always threatens to throw Mr. N into the water along with the stick. So far that hasn’t happened.
Do your dogs like to play tug?

Did you win? Yes, Earl and Ethel LOVE playing tug, with me, and with each other!

LOL Mr. N is serious about his sticks. We don't play tug with our dogs. We work on giving up birds nicely…lol.

Yeah, I can definitely see why you would want the birds in good shape!

Wet Mr N looks like wet Rocco! Rocco likes sticks too, but only tugs with certain things — like his flat toy on a long flirt pole.

They're brothers from a different mother or something lol.

I never get tired of seeing Mr. N with Sage's sticks! Barley doesn't get tug at all. If she has a toy and I try to tug it, she just lets go as if to say, "Oh, you want my toy? Ok. It's yours."

That's how Mr. N feels about most things but there's just something about Sage's sticks.

Mr. N…I bet you had a bath later in the day.
August 28, 2015 11:17 pm
Oh he almost always does after playing with Sage.

Boy, Mr. N, you sure were a dirty but happy mess! Mom used to pick up Katie when they played tug as she would not let go, but she doesn't play anymore.

You're a serious tugger, Mr. N. I am not allowed to play tug. When I used to try it, Mom taught me to "Leave it." She was afraid I would pick up something dangerous and she wouldn't be able to get it away from me. She worries like that….
Love and licks,

Mr. N has a good leave it and knows drop it. He dropped a piece of deli meat he found when I told him to!

Mom never encouraged me to play tug because she had heard it wasn't a good activity to teach your dog. Once in awhile now I will if she has something I want bad enough and won't let go, or Taffy has always liked to play tug. Mr N you look so fierce! Love Dolly

I've heard that viewpoint before too but nowadays many dog training experts recommend it.

We had to stop playing with a certain toy in our yard because both girls would get an end of it, and neither would let go! At one point, our golden Sheba was literally swinging our beagle around, who wouldn't let go!
Small dogs can be pretty fierce and determined, that's for sure, and the bigger dogs just give up and give into them!

Finley are real into tug, but I never really has been.

Haha, Mr. N, you sure do look fierce 😉 I doubt you'll ever land in the water along with the stick…Our boy Buzz likes to play tug every now & then, but our girl Missy doesn't. She tries to find sticks and then chew on them, which I try to discourage as much as possible.
